Kelsey Wins the DinoLand Triathlon!!!

With some of her toughest competition on her heals Kelsey pulled off a win today (June 27th) in Vernal making her win record for this season 4 for 4! Here is a great play by play of her race by Kelsey's husband Mike from their personal blogspot ---------The Adventures of Mike and Kelsey

T1

Off comes the wetsuit
running into T1
With a 4a.m. wake-up call we managed to beat the crowd and nabbed Kelsey a good spot in the second transition area.

Bringing Home the Bacon
Here's Kelsey getting her T2 area situated dark and early.

Bike start
We actually had to put Kelsey's bike in the T1 area the night before the race. After setting up T2 early this morning we took a bus over to the swim start and T1 area. Here is Kelsey making her final preparations before warm-up.

The Swim
Getting into the zone.

Bike Finish
Kelsey maneuvered her way into the draft of the lead men on the swim.

Getting in the Zone
Popsicle at Finish
She came out of the water right behind the first three men and about a minute and a half to two minutes ahead of the next woman. Here you can see her running out of the water directly in front of the buoy.

4 am
Running into the T1 area.

Run start
Getting the wet suit off.

Dinoland Tri
This is the only shot that I got of Kelsey on her bike. Then, I had to wait for the buses to take us spectators back to the T2 and finish line area. The drivers were instructed not to leave until the last competitor was out of the water. I stood there for over an hour. I was sure that I was going to miss Kelsey in the T2 area.

Finally, the first bus left. When we were about to arrive at T2 we were stopped at an intersection by a police officer and some volunteers in order to let some competitors through. You'll never guess who it was they were holding us up for....

Winners
I yelled out loud in the bus, "That's my wife!" This picture (above) I took from my front seat on the bus.
Entering Stadium
As soon as we parked I ran out of the bus to try to catch a picture of Kelsey in transition. I missed her but managed to snap this shot of her starting her run. You can see her in the distance.

First out of the water
Here is Kelsey entering the stadium. All of the competitors entered the track on the far stretch and ran about 300m to the finish line.

T2
Coming down the home stretch.

In the Stadium
After the race they had chocolate milk and popsicles for all of the competitors.
